Mold 101

According to a Harvard University School of Public Health study, more than half of the houses we own contain indoor mold. And when you've got mold spores, they can easily latch on to a moist surface and multiply. This leaves many families vulnerable to the possible health effects of indoor mold.

  • Watery or itchy eyes.

  • Symptoms include sore throat and congestion.

  • Coughing

  • Skin rashes.

  • Asthma

  • Respiratory issues

A University of Arizona study suggests that mold spores are a possible explanation for the rate of asthma tripling over the last two decades. Understanding the facts about mold will help you keep your family and your home safe and healthy.

Generally, three things are required for mold to grow:

Moisture resulting from floods, water leaks, or dampness
Natural, porous materials such as wallpaper, grout, or drywall
Ideal temperature, typically in the range of 18 to 28 degrees

These components have the potential to cause a mold problem that could spread and penetrate in as little as 24 to 48 hours.

Bleach has been the standard solution for mold issues for many years. And although the mold would disappear, it would return in a matter of weeks.

Why? Because bleach leaves the mold's roots unharmed and able to regrow, it is ineffective against mold on porous materials like wood and drywall. We believe it's time to give up using bleach because of this.

Concrobium stays on the surface in order to inhibit the growth of mold and functions to successfully destroy the mold spores.
